300 kg Spurious Ghee with Fake holograms and Agmark certification seized- Commissioner Food Safety

Once again fulfilling the commitment to provide healthy and safe food to the people of Punjab, CIA and the Food Safety teams seized spurious ghee in the State.Giving details,  KS Pannu Commissioner Food Safety informed that 300 kg of spurious ghee with fake holograms and Agmark certification was seized in Mohali. A white Hyundai Verna car was intercepted with by  CIA staff. It was carrying 25 boxes of apparently spurious Verka Desi Ghee amounting to about 300kg.Local Verka Plant checked it to be spurious and also  a team of Verka officials from Bathinda was called to examine the authenticity,since it bore the address of Bathinda. It was observed that the packaging bore fake holograms and Agmark certification and other glaring things on the label. Samples were taken and whole stock was seized by police at CIA Kharar.Earlier in the day,another team seized Devki Nandan Desi Ghee from railway road Khanna . Cost price of desi ghee was mentioned as Rs.180 per kg whereas genuine desi ghee costs not less than Rs 350 per kg. It was apparent that it was adulterated with vegetable oils like Palm oil of Rs 50 per kg etc. Toal seizure included 72 half kg packs,14 one kg packs and 75 packs of 200 gms each as well as 161 plastic containers.
