Punjab International Trade Expo (PITEX) will not only strengthen the industrial ties among nations but will also improve the graph of Amritsar in the field of Industry & Commerce, this was stated by Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, Kamaljeet Singh Sangha while addressing a PressConference on the eve of 13th edition of PITEX being organised here by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).The expo will be hosted by Punjab Govt. He said during the last 12 years PITEX has built its unique image not only in Punjab but also abroad. People eagerly await for this event. Appealing the general public to visit the event, the Deputy Commissioner said that this is proud moment for Amritsarians that an international expo like PITEX is being organised in the City.Addressing the Press Conference, R S Sachdeva, Chairman, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI said that PITEX will be inaugurated on December 6, jointly by Hon’ble Minister of Local government, Tourism and Cultural affairs, S.Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sh. O.P.Soni, Hon’ble Minister of Education & Food Processing, Punjab. Apart from NSIC, MSME and National Jute Board, PITEX will also seeparticipation from PSIEC, GMADA, Punjab Agro Industry Corporation, PEDA,  Milkfed, Markfed, amongst others.He further said that besides encouraging industrial sector, CSR activities will also be undertaken during PITEX. In this regard, a Walkathon to promote organ donation will be held at 8:00 am on 9th December and a Health Talk on Causes, Symptoms, Prevention and Treatment of Heart diseases and Recent Advances in Joint Replacement in association with Fortis Escorts. On 8th Dec.  

PHDCCI will conduct a visit of students from Mission Deep Educational Trust – an Amritsar based NGO engaged in providing education & other facilities to underprivileged students.Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, Principal Director, PHDCCI said that it was for the first time when all the stalls have been booked prior to start of the event. This time exhibitors from Afghanistan, Turkey, Thailand and Egypt are also participating in PITEX. Pakistani products will also be on display & sale during the event. Apart from these, states like Jharkahnd, J&K and Rajasthan are also participating in big way in the event.A seminar on Capacity Building Of MSME to make them globally competitive will also be organised on 7th December, Hon’ble Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Punjab, Sh. Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi will be the Chief Guest at the MSME Conclave on 7th December.The Regional Director, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry,  Madhu Pillai informed that this time over 425 stalls have been established over a spread of 10 thousand square meters. She said in 2005, when PITEX was started in Amritsar, approximate 150 industrialists participated and the event received merely 50 thousand visitors. Now with cooperation with the State Govt., PITEX has grown many folds. Jaideep Singh, Convener-Amritsar,  PHDCCI and other prominent industrialists were also present on the occasion.
