The Police Recruits Training Centre Jahan Khelan hosted a passing out Parade of the Drill and Weapon handling course batch of the Punjab Home Guard volunteers today at the Chaman Stadium. A total of 624 home guard volunteers including 579 male and 45 female volunteers passed out on the occasion.The chief guest on the occasion Sunder Sham Arora, Minister of Industries and Trade Punjab while lauding the role played by the Home Guards during  the war with China in 1962 and also in other critical situations like the period of militancy in Punjab said that the Home Guards have always risen to the occasion whenever the need arouse for that. The minister said that it was for the first time that any government has given jobs on compassionate grounds to the Home Guards volunteers.Sh. Sunder Sham Arora said that the Punjab Government was very considerate to the need of providing gainful employment to the unemployed youth of Punjab. The ADGP, Punjab Home Guards, Sh. B.K. Bawa, IPS stressed the role played by the Punjab Home Guards in maintaining the peace and harmony in the State. 

He also raised certain concerns of the organization which needed to be dealt with by the government. Speaking on the occasion Commandant, PRTC Jahan Khelan Sh. Bhupinder Singh, PPS said that the course content of the batch was so planned that these Home Guards volunteers would very ably perform the duties of law and order in co-ordination with Punjab Police. On the occasion also were present IGP Mr. Yurinder singh hayer, DIG Punjab Home guards Mr.Harmanjeet Singh, SSP Mr. J.Elenchazian and ADC Mrs. Anupam Kaler.On this occasion officers of the centre were honored for their contribution to the training activities. These included the law officers of the centre namely Sh. Kanwal Preet Singh Dy.DA, Sh. Amit Dhawan ADA, Sh. Dinesh Kathia ADA, Sh. Nitin Berry ADA and Dr. Sarbrinder Jeet Singh ADA  and also the Dy.SPs working in this centre namely Sh. Harjit Singh, Sh. Gurjit Pal Singh and Sh. Malkiat Singh. On this occasion the bereaved families of the Home Guards who passed away while on duty were also handed over the insurance amounts by the HDFC Bank in arrangement with the Punjab Home Guards department.Also the meritorious wards of the Punjab Home Guards officials were disbursed scholarships by the bank. A colorful program was also presented on the occasion.
