For ushering a new era of peace and cordial bilateral relations, the media of India and Pakistan has a vital role to play, said Dr. Charanjit Singh Atwal, Speaker, Punjab Legislative Assembly during informal deliberations with the visiting Pakistan’s journalists. The occasion was the dinner hosted by Dr. Atwal for the Pakistan media delegation from Lahore Press Club consisting of 34 journalists among these three are women journalists and they are on their five-day tour to Punjab.
Dr. Atwal greeted the guest media persons with bouquets. The media delegation was lead by Mr. Arshad Ansari, President and Mr. Zulfikar Ali, General Secretary of Lahore Press Club. Mr. Atwal also apprised the Pakistani journalists about the legislative functioning and proceedings of budget sessions of the Punjab Legislative Assembly.
Dr. Atwal made an impassionate appeal to the journalist to play a constructive role for creating cordial relationship between India and Pakistan. He further said, “We should move forward on the path of development ignoring the bitterness and hostility surfaced during past.” Dr. Atwal presented mementos to the Pakistani scribes as a token of love. Mr. Ved Prakash, Secretary, Punjab Legislative Secretariat, Former MP Mr. Satpal Jain, President Chandigarh Press Club , Mr. Sukhbir Singh Bajwa, President Press Gallery Committee Punjab Vidhan Sabha Mr. A S Prashar were also present on the occasion.
