The former Chief of the Army Staff General V.P. Malik (PVSM, AVSM), State Information Commissioner (SIC), Punjab Khushwant Singh and Patiala Range IGP Amardeep Singh Rai were honoured with the 'Punjab Rattan Award' by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Rana K.P. Singh in his Chamber at the Assembly, here today. The special function held under the aegis of the Panjab Writers and Cultural Forum.Brigadier K.S. Chandpuri, the hero of the famous Battle of Longewala, was remembered and a one-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the hero.The Founder Chairman of the Panjab Writers and Cultural Forum Mr. Ved Parkash Gupta said the aim of the forum was to “honour those, who serve others”. Eulogizing the oratory skills of Rana K.P. Singh, Mr. Gupta and the Secretary General Dr. Madan Lal Hasiza have presented the video recording of the speech to the Speaker, which was delivered at the Patiala function.Notably, the Forum had organized the award function at Patiala on November 10, but because General Malik, Khushwant Singh and IGP A.S. Rai could not attend the function. These three persons were felicitated today.
