With an aim to run the Council efficiently, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC Jamyang Tsering Namgyal today allocated various departments to the newly appointed Deputy Chairman and Executive Councillors.Deputy Chairman Gyal P Wangyal was assigned the departments of Works; Animal and Sheep Husbandry; Power Development; Youth Services and Sports; Non-conventional energy (LREDA), Science and technology; and Employment department.Whereas Executive Councillor Tsering Sandup was given the Public Health and sanitation, health services, hospitals, dispensaries and family welfare; Promotion and development of traditional Amchi System of Medicine; Social Welfare and ICDS; ITI and Polytechnic; Cottage Industries, handicrafts and handlooms; Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs; Labour welfare; and District Industries departments.Executive Councillor Mumtaz Hussain was allocated the departments of Forest and Environment; Minority Affairs; Cooperative; Fisheries; DMG; Stationeries and Printing; Parks and Gardens; Statistics and Evaluation; and Wildlife.Executive Councillor Phunchok Stanzin was assigned the departments of Agriculture; Command Area Development; Horticulture; Soil Conservation; and Antiquities and Archives.All other departments including Education, tourism, Higher Education, Leh Development Authority, Urban Local Bodies, Rural Development, Information, Culture and Panchayati Raj shall remain with the Chairman / CEC himself.
