Sukhbir Singh Badal, President Shiromani Akali Dal and Deputy Chief Minister Punjab today termed Congress as the biggest threat to the sovereignty and independence of the India and said that the leaders deserting the Congress party were doing the real patriotic job. He said that the complete decimation of Congress was must to save the nation and now the time has come for the Moga electorate to say final good bye to the real turncoat Captain Amrinder Singh and his coterie which failed to describe even a single development project that they had brought to Moga during Congress regime.
Addressing a number of rallies in the favour of SAD-BJP candidate Mr. Joginder Pal Jain on the day before the last day for campaign, Mr. Badal said that beleaguered Congress leadership has resorted to such low practices that it had strictly ordered party MLAs from non-congress states to firmly follow its instruction to hinder all the development activities initiated by the respective state governments in their areas. Adding further, He said that by doing so the issueless Congress party was trying to make non-development of those areas an issue in its future negative poll campaigns. Mr. Badal said that all those Congressmen who were trying to get rid of this mud, were joining the pro development parties all around the nation that showed that they were not the turncoats but the real patriots. He said that it was the outcome of this nation wide move that 6 more top Congress leaders from the states were requesting to join Shiromani Akali Dal. He said that the Congress Party has not only betrayed the nation and the states but even their own party members too during last 64 years.
Meanwhile, addressing a massive gathering at Dutt Road, fomer MLA Mr. Gurdev Singh Gill said that the Congress leadership had tried to mislead the people by spreading rumour that he had joined the Congress. He added, “I am Akali by heart and there is no chance to join anti people Congress or any other party by deserting Shiromani Akali Dal.” He said that Congress should avoid following these age old strategies.
Replying to a media query during campaign, Mr. Badal compared the Captain Amrinder Singh with the ‘devil quoting scriptures’ and said that former Chief Minister must compare the crime data of his regime with the present one. He said that it was Captain’s regime that had unleashed a reign of repression against the Akali workers all over the state. He reminded Amrinder of Bhikhiwind killings in which official weapons like AK-47, SLR and 9 mm pistol were used by the Congress goons to gun down six persons, including Shiromani Akali Dal leader Mr. Gurdial Singh. He said, “It had taken Amarinder Singh just fifteen minutes to give a clean chit to Gurchet Singh Bhullar in the Taran Taran broad day light murder case, and the only reason for the clean chit given by him was that Gurchet Singh was known to him”. Mr. Badal said that on the other hand quick and effective actions had been taken by SAD-BJP government in all the cases affecting law and order situation in the state. Mr. Badal said that PPCC chief Amarinder Singh was spreading concocted stories to pert the attention of people from the development agenda of SAD-BJP alliance.
Challenging the Congress party to compete with SAD-BJP alliance on the development agenda at any platform, Mr. Badal said that Congress failed to mention even a single initiative it had taken for the development of Moga. He said that it was clear that Congress was desperate to run away from the real agenda of development and governance and was looking for any issue to pert people's attention from core issues. He said that SAD-BJP government was committed to keep its sole agenda of development and administrative reforms to ensure all round development and prosperity of the people.
