G.A Mir said That Potential tourism spots to be identified for development

Tourism Minister Mr. Ghulam Ahmad Mir, has said that the coalition government is focusing on accomplishment of peoples’ aspirations and developmental needs which has revolutionized and revamped over all developmental scenario of the State during last 4 years. The Minister said that up-gradation of infrastructure under core sectors like education, Health, Power, R&B, PHE under the flagship programmes RMSA, PMGSY, NRHM, and RGGVY are in force in the State. He said under these programmes the basic amenities are being extended to every area with emphasis on remote and hilly areas. The Minister said that J&K has great potential for tourism, a major contributor in our state’s economy, which is being explored fully by developing new tourist attractions in leisure, adventure, heritage and pilgrimage fields. He said crores of rupees with Special Financial assistance from Centre are being expended on creation of world class tourism infrastructure for convenience of visiting tourists in the State.

The Minister said that new tourism spots would be identified for development in all the districts for development in a phased manner. In this regard, DPR’s would be submitted to the Center as soon as possible.The deputations who met the Minister were from Verinag, Vail, Kokernag, Sadiwara, Kapran, Shopian, Sopore, Bandipora and Kangan from Kashmir valley and from Rajouri, Kathua, Bani and Doda from Jammu pision. They demanded improvement and up-gradation of basic facilities besides promotion of tourism sector in their respective areas.The Minister assured the deputationists that the government would take all necessary steps to mitigate their genuine demands and developmental needs on priority.
