CUK students protest, offer prayer on roads to mark protest against detention of two varsity students

The students of Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Saturday blocked Nowgam Bypass road and offered Zuhr (afternoon) prayers on road to protest against the detention of two students of varsity. The CUK students earlier boycotted their classes and assembled in the varsity premises where they held protest against the detention of two Political Science students of the varsity. Earlier, two students identified as Suhail Ahmed from Shopian and Mohammad Ismail from Baramulla were detained by the government forces from their rented accommodation near the university. According to KNO correspondent, the students later carried out a protest march to demand the release of detained students. Holding banners, raising slogans in the protest march, the students demanded the release of two students of the varsity. During the protest march, the students blocked the Nowgam Bypass road here that left hundreds of vehicles stranded for hours. The students also offered Zuhr (afternoon) prayers on the roads to mark a protest against the detention of students. The protesting students said that two of their varsity students were detained by the police for unknown reasons to them. “We demand immediate release of the students,” they said.(KNO)
