Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat today called upon the youth of our country to come forward, become integral part of the Indian Army and serve the nation as well as fellow countrymen. He stressed that collective efforts are required for making India a number one country. He said this while addressing the gathering during a function held at Sat Paul Mittal School, here today.During the function, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Nehru Sidhant Kendra Trust and Indian Army under which 100 annual scholarships would be provided to the wards of those soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of our nation.While addressing the gathering, Gen Rawat said that India is progressing in every field at a fast pace.He called upon the Indian youth to become an integral part of the Indian Army, along with contributing in the development of our country. 

He said that doors of the Indian Army are always open for the youth.Gen Bipin Rawat said that Indian culture, heritage and values are priceless and we should all take them forward and also appealed to the youth to not fall prey to the western culture.He said that our country faces several challenges that can be faced collectively.It is pertinent to mention that during the function, an MoU was signed between the Nehru Sidhant Kendra Trust and Indian Army, in which 100 annual scholarships would be provided to the wards of those soldiers who laid their lives in the service of our nation. These scholarships would help the wards in getting education and would be provided from class first to fifth. Under this scholarship, eligible students would be provided fund for completing their studies till class twelfth and maximum of two children from each family can avail this scholarship. 

Priority would be given to provide scholarship to girls.Nehru Sidhant Kendra Trust President Mr Rakesh Bharti Mittal informed that this scholarship has been named as Nehru Scholarship (Armed Forces) and till date, 17100 scholarships have already been provided to the needy students from weaker sections of society. During today’s function, 1147 students were awarded with scholarships.On this occasion, Mr Arunachalam Muruganatham, Thirumalai Charity Trust and The Leprosy Mission Trust India were honoured with Satpaul Mittal National Awards, while Deepalaya Organisation and Dr Omesh Kumar Bharti were honoured with appreciation awards.Prominent among those present on the occasion also included former Chief of Indian Army General Ved Prakash Malik, besides a large number of students of government and private schools.
