Vigilance Bureau conducts joint surprise checking of sweet shops with health officials to stop adulteration across Punjab

In a bid to curb malpractices of adulteration in sweets and food products, Vigilance Bureau today conducted joint surprise checking with health and food safety officials at various sweets shops across the state and collected samples of food items.Disclosing this here today, Chief Director cum ADGP Vigilance Bureau B.K. Uppal said teams of Vigilance Bureau in association with district health officials and food safety officials today conducted surprise checking of sweet shops and collected samples of sweets namely khoya, chamcham, kalakand, gulabjamun, burfi, ladoos, patisa and paneer. He added that the samples collected from sweet shops would be sent for testing in the state food testing laboratory. Stern action would be taken against those who found guilty under food safety law", Uppal said.Uppal said the entire staff of the vigilance bureau is working with utmost dedication and sincerity to end the unethical practices at sweet shops during the festival season.
