The Governor Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh V.P. Singh Badnore today spent the Diwali time with the inmates of Observation-cum-Special Home – 25, Senior Citizens Home-43 and ASHREY in Sector 47 Chandigarh and wished them diwali greetings. The Administrator was accompanied by Sh. B.L. Sharma, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare & Women & Child Development, Smt. Navjot Kaur, PCS, Director Social Welfare & Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration and other officials of the Department.During the visit at the Observation- cum- Special Home, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore interacted with the juveniles and motivated them to change their outlook towards life. He further encouraged them to explore their interests and follow their passion. The Administrator also emphasized on the need for them to become all round individuals, who not only achieve success in their lives. 

The officials of the department were also directed by the Administrator to impart knowledge based education and training to these children, so that they imbibe that knowledge and use it to the best of their potential.While interacting with the senior citizens in the Senior Citizens' Home in Sector 43, Mr. Badnore ensured them that the Chandigarh Administration would utilize their services for the betterment of the society. He also said that their basic needs would be taken care of besides providing them with proper healthcare facilities. Shri Badnore also visited the ASHREY, the home for the mentally challenged Children and spent time with them. He asked the authorities to provide more opportunities to such children to ensure their holistic development. The Administrator also distributed boxes containing sweets to the occupants of these homes.Later, the Governor amidst religious hymns and mantra recitation laid the foundation stone of the new block of Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital in Sector 47, Chandigarh.
