DIC Kathua organizes symposium on ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’

District Information Centre, Kathua today organized a symposium on the theme of “Swachhta Hi Seva” here at Government Middle School ‘A’, Kathua. Students drawn from different classes participated in the symposium and threw light on the subject.During the competition, Sandeep secured 1st position, while 2nd position was bagged by Bhupesh whereas Vikrant stood 3rd.The speakers informed that the said campaign is to mobilize people and reinforce the “Jan Aandolan” for sanitation to contribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a Clean India.It was further given out that the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ can only be achieved if large scale mobilization of people from all walks of life to undertake shramdaan for cleanliness and construction of toilets and to make their environments free from open defecation.District Information Officer, Parshotam Dass Sharma, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, in his address, highlighted the initiative of Information Department for providing opportunity to the students who put forth their thoughts on subject of such importance. He also administered pledge to the students for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in and around their surroundings.Headmistress, Geeta Sharma presented vote of thanks and hailed the efforts of Information Department for organizing such competitions.A panel of judges, comprising of Joginder Kumar, Gurpreet Singh and Bunty Kumar adjudged the participants of the symposium.The dignitaries presented the mementos and certificates were presented to the winners and other participating students. Teachers and students of the school were also present on the occasion.
