DDC Ramban monitored road clearance operation, inspects shelter sheds

District Development Commissioner  Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat personally monitored the road clearance operation at  Digdol area and ensured that all stranded passengers should be provided meals besides night shelter at designated places besides requesting commuters to contact traffic control rooms before starting their journey on the highway.ADC, Ramban, Dr Basharat Hussain, SDM Banihal, Zameer Rishu, and senior officers of civil and police administration supervised the adequate arrangements for the stay of stranded passengers besides road clearance and other works.DDC said that a landslide had blocked the 270-km highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with rest of the country at Digdol and Hingni in Ramban district last night. After that administration had started immediate road clearance operation and road was opened for traffic today in shortest time.DDC directed the executing agencies to station adequate men and machinery to remove landslides instantly from national highway to avoid traffic jamming and traffic breakdown besides ensuring traffic worthy road 24 X7.DDC also inspected shelter sheds established by the administration along the National highway for the stay of commuters in case of blockage of road at Nogam, Thethar and Gund Adalkoot.He directed the SDMs of Banihal and Ramsoo to ensure heating arrangements, eatables, heating arrangements, sanitation and toilet facility   in all shelter sheds besides other necessary facilities for stranded passengers.
