Governor Congratulates The Students Of Various City Institutions For Their Spectacular Performance In Skill India 2018

The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, V.P. Singh Badnore today congratulated the students of various institutions of Chandigarh who called on him at Raj Bhawan after winning medals for their spectacular performance in India's biggest skill competition, India Skill 2018.The Governor while interacting with highly motivated students appreciated their efforts in participating in 46 trades from across the country and receiving medals from the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Anant kumar Hegde and Shri Subhash Ghai, Chairman of Media and Entertainment Skills Council and India Film Director.Giving details, the teachers accompanying the students said Chandigarh had won 5 Gold Medals in trades of Architectural Stone Masonry, Painting and Decorating, Manufacture Team Challenge, Poly mechanic and Automation and ITSSB. Three Silver medals in Architectural Stone Masonry, Painting and Decorating and Poly mechanic and Automation were also part of their victory followed by three Bronze Medals in MCAD, Aircraft Maintenance and Poly mechanic and Automation.   In CNC milling, Chandigarh also won Medallion of Excellence. These medals earned Chandigarh, the third position in India.

This was the first time that Chandigarh Skill Development Mission participated in 12 trades with 19 participants. But the positivity of these participants surprised entire India with their performance and precision. The Government College of Art , Sector 10 , Chandigarh, the best performing technical Institution, made clean sweep in Art field by winning both Gold and silver medal. Students of Indo-Swiss Training Center headed the Engineering Trades where as CCET (Degree Wing) displayed expertise in IT and MCAD Trades. Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh was also the part of best performance in Aircraft Maintenance.Some of winners of the competition of various trades would be imparted more training, before they are sent to represent India at the 45th World Skills Competition at Kazan, Russia in 2019.A number of Divyangs also participated in the competition and the winners would take part at the World level in Abilympics in China. Mr. Saurabh Saint, student of Govt. College of Art, who is speech and hearing impaired, won silver Medal in Painting in India Skill 2018. Mr Dahin Yaheem Bhatt also represented India in Euro Skills before Nationals.Mr Sachin Rana, IAS , Principal , Govt College of Art , along with Principal , CCET ( Degree Wing ), Director PEC and Principal , Indo Swiss Training Center also accompanied the winners. The Team Chandigarh won the cash prize amounting to Rs 8 Lacs 75 thousand.
