Today review meeting through video conferencing for updated progress under new scheme crop residue management and review of burning incidents was taken by the Ministry of Agricultural Farmer Welfare, Govt. of India with the Deputy Commissioners of 10 Districts of the State of Punjab.In the review meeting it was emphasized by the said Ministry to use innovative methods for management of paddy stubble. It was informed by the Deputy Commissioner, Patiala that the Department of Agriculture as distributed the machinery to the farmers who have applied for obtaining subsidy for in-situ management of paddy stubble and the said department is also organizing awareness comps in the villages.The Punjab Pollution Control Board is also taking part in the awareness campaign. it was also informed by that the number of fire incidents during this ongoing paddy harvesting season are much less are compared to harvesting season of paddy of the year 2017. The Ministry of Agricultural Farmer Welfare, appreciated the effects made by District Administration of Patiala to curb the problem of stubble burning.
