A meeting under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner Budgam Khurshid Ahmad Sanaie was convened here today to review the preparedness to be made for pre and post-snowfall across the district Budgam.Speaking about preparedness put in place, the ADDC said that control rooms at District and sub-district level will be established for the winter months which will work round the clock where officers from all concerned departments will sit to provide information to the local population about snow clearance, in addition, they will also monitor the availability of essentials and other requirements particularly in the far-flung areas.Regarding the snow clearance arrangements, the ADDC said that 11 fully equipped snow clearance machines from the mechanical and R&B department will be kept ready to do snow clearances in all areas instantly and promptly where required.Regarding dumping of stocks/essentials in the remote areas of the district, the ADDC said FCS&CA department has been directed to start the process of dumping of stocks including rice, flour, K-oil and sugar in the identified sail centres so that no scarcity of any essential item shall occur during this period. Similarly, PDD has been directed to ensure all requisite repair on LT and HT lines are carried out pro-actively in the required areas. He said in order to tackle any emergency, the department has kept available a buffer stock of 34 transformers at the District headquarter.With regard to drinking water facility PHE department will make all required arrangements to negotiate any emergency and unprecedented disruption in the supply, for this purpose requisite number of men and machinery will be kept ready to do the need full.To save towns including areas prone to be effected from water logging all the EOs of 6 municipalities have been directed to keep ready de-watering pumps. They will also ensure de-siltation is done in all lanes and drains so as to avoid inundation of low lying areas.The meeting was attended by CPO, all SDMs, heads of engineering departments, EOs of municipalities and other concerned.
