Himachal Pradesh has made rapid stride in the field of education and the State has emerged as second state in the country after Kerala in highest  literacy rate. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while launching the ambitious scheme 'Akhand Shiksha Jyoti-Mere School Se Nikle  Moti’ from Government Senior Secondary School Bagsiad in Seraj area of Mandi district today. Under this Scheme names of the old students would be  written on Roll of Honour Board to be displayed in the respective schools to motivate the students to work hard and excel in life.Chief Minister said that  the State Government has started thirty new schemes in the budget of 2018-19 for the welfare and development of the State. He said that Akhand  Shiksha Jyoti-Mere School Se Nikle Moti was one such scheme which was launched for honouring the old students who have earned their name in  different walks of life.While nostalgically remembering his old school days at Bagsiad, Chief Minister said that school days were one of the best in  one’s life. He said that during his school days he had to travel about nine km daily to reach Bagsiad School, but now the scenario was entirely different  as today Himachal Pradesh has educational institutions even in the remotest area of the State. He said that the State Government has started Medha  Protsahan Yojana for providing coaching facility to 500 meritorious students for preparing for competitive examinations like IAS, HAS, NEET, JEE,IIT  etc. Under this Scheme Rs. 1 lakh would be provided to each student under this Scheme.Jai Ram Thakur said that schools and the teachers play a  major role in shaping the careers of any individuals. He said that it becomes moral duty of every individual to repay back to the institution as gratitude.  He said that this would not only help in strengthening the institutions which have contributed in shaping their life but also motivate the students of these  institutions to perform better.He said that nursery classes have been started in Government schools in the State because it was being felt that due to  non availability of nursery classes parents were admitting their children in private schools. He said that this would motivate the partners to admit their  children in government schools.

Jai Ram Thakur also honoured the old students on the occasion whose name was written on the School Roll of Honour Board under the newly launched  Scheme.The Chief Minister also released the booklet on Guidelines on Akhand Shiksha  Jyoti-Mere School Se Nikle Moti, brought out by the DIET  Mandi  on the occasion.Chief Minister provided free gas connections to the beneficiaries of Mukhya Mantri Ghrihani Suvidha Yojana. He also  interacted with the students on the occasion.Chief Minister announced metalling of the road leading to the school and announced Rs. 10 lakh for  expansion of school ground. He said that stadium would also be constructed in the school. He announced Rs. one crore for construction of additional  building in Bagsiad school. He announced 10 solar lights for Bagsiad bazar. He announced providing personal amount of Rs. 51000 for the school.He  also announced Rs. 31000 from his discretionary fund for the students performing cultural programme on the occasion.Earlier,  the Chief Minister  performed Bhoomi Pujan for Improvement and upgradation of Bagsaid-Thunag via Raingaloo Road(Stage-II) to be completed at a cost of Rs. 4.56  crore,  inaugurated Lift Irrigation Scheme Sunas in Gram Panchayat Sharan constructed at a cost of Rs. 44.36 lakh, laid foundation stone of for newly  created Assistant Engineer PWD Office cum Residential Building at Bagsiad to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 90 lakh , performed Bhoomi Pujan for  Improvement and upgradation of Bagsaid-Kandha-Badeen Road(Stage-II) to be constructed at a cost of Rs.125.90 lakh and inaugurated additional  Block of Government Senior Secondary School Bagsiad. He also inaugurated start of Pre Primary classes in the school and also planted a sapling in  the school campus. 

Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that this Scheme was the dream project of the Chief Minster and was aimed at motivating the students to  work hard to achieve new heights in their life. He said that the future of the State was secured in the hands of able leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram  Thakur. He said that the old students who have excelled in various fields should contribute for development and strengthening of their Alma  Mater.Member of Parliament Ram Swaroop Sharma said that Government Senior Secondary School Bagsiad was honoured to have old student of this  school as Chief Minister of the State and also the real ‘Moti’ not only for the district, but also of the State.Secretary Education Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma  detailed various salient features about the new scheme launched by the Chief Minister today. President Shakti Kendra Mohinder also welcomed the  Chief Minister and detailed various developmental demands of the area.Principal of the Government Senior Secondary School Bagsiad Khem Chand  welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion. He also detailed history of the school.A cultural programme was also  presented by the school children on the occasion.Bopar Mandal Bagsiad presented a cheque of Rs. 21000 and Mahila Mandals of Kandi, Rahidhar and  Sharan presented Cheques of Rs. 4000, Rs. 5100 and Rs. 5000 respectively to the Chief Minister towards CMRF.Wife of Chief Minister and Vice  Chairperson State Red Cross Dr. Sadhna Thakur, MLA Sundernagar Rakesh Jamwal, State BJP Spokesman Ajay Rana, Director Education Dr.  Amarjeet Sharma, Director Elementary Education Rohit Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner Mandi Rugved Thakur, SP Mandi Gurdev Sharma were present  on the occasion among others.
