The National Policy has to be made by the Union Government for the complete eradication of drugs and to break the narco-terrorism from the grass root level. These views were expressed by Health & Family Welfare Minister Mr. Brahm Mohindra in district level special camp organized to mark the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at the local government college (girls). Total 15414 applications were received during all 8 camps held in district Ludhiana today.738 out of them got on the spot benefit of related schemes.Interacting with the media ahead of the function, Mr. Brahm Mohindra said that the Punjab government is committed to eradicate drugs from the state and we are proactively working in this direction. He said that supply-line of drugs had been cracked in the state. On being asked about the cultivation of poppy seeds in the state, he said that the need of the hour is to eradicate drugs in every region of the country for which Union government has to make the National Policy with the consultation of all states and that policy would implement in each state.With this, states like Punjab can be saved from the impact of drug addiction. He made it clear that if any national policy is created for the prevention of drugs, then the Punjab Government will definitely implement it in the state.

Mr. Mahindra said that the Punjab government had realized that many schemes of public interest were being provided the services to the people but it is fact that all eligible people were not getting benefits from them. ‘Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojana’ is being implemented only in search of such beneficiaries. He said that the state government was determined to provide the benefits of the government schemes to every eligible beneficiary. Speaking on the occasion, he mentioned about the progress of Farmers Debt Relief Scheme, Ghar-Ghar Rojgar Yojna, Mission Tandarust Punjab and Drug Addiction Campaign launched by the Punjab government.He said that besides rehabilitating youth from drugs, they are also being provided the employment and 2.62 lakh youth covered under this scheme.Recalling those Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and the country's Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, he said that by adopting the path of non-violence, they had developed our country and the people. He said that these two legends contributed contribution in the formation of the nation, which will be remembered throughout the life. These two leaders of the country, worked for passionately to uplift economically every section of the society, especially the Schedule Caste community.

Addressing the gathering, Lok Sabha MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said that many schemes are being implemented but how many people got benefit from these schemes? Or how many eligible people do not get benefit from it? No one cares about it, now Capt Amarinder Singh's government has initiated the Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojana under which efforts have been made to provide benefit of all schemes.The meeting was also addressed by Mr. Rakesh Pandey and Mr. Surinder Dabur (both MLAs), Deputy Commissioner Mr. Pradip Kumar Agarwal. Earlier, and other prominent personalities. Notably, special camps were organized in every block in district Ludhiana. During which thousands of people were registered for various schemes. Certificates were also distributed to various eligible beneficiaries on this occasion. MLA Mr. Sanjay Talwar, Mayor of Municipal Corporation Ludhiana. Balkar Singh Sandhu, Additional Deputy Commissioner (v) Dr. Shanna Agarwal, S.K. D. M. S Damanjit Singh Mann, S. Amarjit Singh Tikka and Mr.Ramesh Joshi (both General Secretaries of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee), Mr. Gurdeep Singh Sarpanch and S. Harjinder Singh Dhindsa and a large number of people were present on the oicassion.
