On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti today, a new Satyagraha was started in Bathinda with people taking oath to eradicate adulteration, drugs, unhygiene and diseases at the Peace March held by district administration Bathinda. Finance Minister Punjab Mr Manpreet Singh Badal led the district level Peace March at Bathinda, while similar Peace Marches were held at the Maur, Talwandi Sabo, Rampura and Bathinda sub division march was held at Goniana.Leading the district level Peace March, the Finance Minister said that all of us will work hard to make the country that Mahatama Gandhi had dreamt of. "We will work hard towards eradication of bribery, poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, drug addiction and other such social evils," he added.The Peace March started from Circuit House, moved towards Bhagu Road to St Joseph School to Govenrment Rajindra College and culminated back at Circuit House. Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Mr Praneet, SSP Dr Nanak Singh, ADC (G) Mr Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu and others were also present. Students from various schoools, players from government run sports academies, NGOs, youth services department run youth clubs, red ribbon clubs, NSS volunteers and other citizens of the city too participated in it.

On the occaison of Gandhi Jayanti today, the Finance Minister Mr Manpreet Singh Badal inaugurated maiden batch at District Employment Bureau that will be given free coaching to prepare for competitive exams. Around 42 studnets have been shortlisted after test whom District Employment Bureau will provide free coaching.Under Mahatama Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojana, mega camps were organized at district and sub division level wherein 14 departments provided services on the spot for social welfare schemes. Finance Minister Mr Manpreet Singh Badal inaugurated district level camp at Adarsh School Canal Colony Bathinda. Mr Badal distributed uniforms to the pre-primary students that the students of Government ITI College have prepared with help of Ambuja Cement Foundation. He also distributed bank account copies to 200 girls under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana whom NGOs have financially adopted. He distributed job letters to youth under Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojana. Under Mudra Yojana, loan papers were distributed to those who had applied for loans from government banks and fulfilled their conditions. Similarly, he distributed papres to beneficiaires of Shagan Scheme, Ujjwala Scheme (45 beneficiaries), MGNREGA scheme and 20 beneficiaries were given papers who are entitled to 200 free units of power. ADC (D) Mrs Sakshi Sawhney, Senior Congress leader Mr Jaijeet Singh Johal was also present at the event.Similarly, at Durga Mandir Goniana, MLA Mr Pritam Singh Kotbhai inaugurated the camp. At Rampura TPD Malwa College SDM Rampura Mr Khushdil Singh inaugurated the camp. At community center Talwandi Sabo Mr Varinder Singh inaugurated the camp and at Maur Neighborhood Campus Punjabi University Patiala assistant registrar Mr Sanjeev Kumar inaugurated the camp.
