With the sole aim to ensure that no person is deprived of the benefits of various welfare schemes started by the government, mega camps at subdivision level will be organized on October 2 under the Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna (MGSVY) Scheme in Barnala district.While providing further information, Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dharam Pal Gupta informed that the camps will be organsied at SDM office Barnala and SDM office Tapa. He said that to avail benefits of various government schemes, district residents could submit their application forms to officials of concerned departments in the camps from 9 am onwards. He said that after thorough checking of the applications, the benefits will be given to the eligible applicants by the concerned departments. He added that SDM Sandeep Kumar has been appointed as in-charge of camp at Barnala and ADC (D) Parveen Kumar deputed same for Tapa camp.
Mr Gupta further informed that the main purpose of this scheme is to provide the benefit of welfare schemes for debt stressed farmers, poor families that have a woman as sole bread earner, families of AIDS patients, out-of-school children, martyred soldiers, differently-abled, abandoned old persons, drug addicts among others. Only those beneficiaries are covered whose annual income is less than Rs 60,000 or they should have less than 2.5 acres of land.He further informed that the MGSVY scheme is aimed at the inclusive development and ensuring equitable access to benefits of all socio- economic development schemes to the most deserving. The Deputy Commissioner assured that all eligible beneficiaries would be covered under the scheme. The government schemes covered under MGSVY are Pensions, shagan scheme, Atta-Dal, SC/BC Loan scheme, Ghar-Ghar Rozgar, disability certificates, Mudra Loan, Post Matric Scholarship, besides several others.
