DDC Rajouri inaugurates Inter-District Throw Ball Tournament

District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Mohd Aijaz Asad today inaugurated Inter-District Throw Ball Tournament (Boys/ Girls) for Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 here at Sports Complex, Rajouri.Organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, the competition will conclude on 16th of this month. The teams from three districts, Rajouri, Jammu and Doda, comprising of 73 boys and 60 girls are participating in these competitions.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the equal participation of female folks in all sports-related activities at schools and other institutions is imperative for overall development of the society. Sports events like this where girls are participating in large numbers reflects a perceptible change in social attitude, he maintained.The DDC directed the officers of youth services and sports to work for the physical, mental and social development of the student community. He asked them to maintain discipline in institutions and engage all students in curricular and co-curricular activities.Underscoring the importance of extra-curricular activities, the DDC said that the sport is as important as academics for students for their overall personality development.On the occasion, the students pledged for maintaining discipline and creating best sportsmanship.Earlier, the DDC interacted with the participants and wished them success.The DDC also inspected the mini sports complex hall and instructed the concerned officers to finalize all arrangements for opening of gymnasium within week’s time.He further visited the building identified and finalized for setting up the Tribal Museum in Rajouri.
