Under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority, Delhi (NLSA) and Punjab Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, National Lok Adalats were held in all the Courts at District Courts, Ludhiana and all the Courts at Sub-Divisions, such as Khanna, Jagraon, Samrala and Payal today. These Lok Adalat’s were organised under the supervision of District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ludhiana and Dr Gurpreet Kaur, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA Ludhiana.In today’s National Lok Adalat, pending and pre-litigative cases related to mainly criminal compoundable case, 138 NI Act, Bank Recovery cases, matrimonial disputes, labour, land acquisition cases, service matters, revenue cases, traffic challans, plea bargaining case, bank loan cases and other cases were taken up for which 22 benches were constituted.These benches were headed by Mr Arunvir Vashisht, Additional District & Session Judge Ludhiana, Mrs Anjana, Additional District & Session Judge Ludhiana, Mr TS Bindra, Additional District & Session Judge Ludhiana, Mrs Sanjita, Additional District & Session Judge Ludhiana, Miss Mandeep Kaur Bedi, Presiding Officer, Industrial Tribunal, Mr Vikrant Kumar, Civil Judge (Senior Division), Miss Pavleen Singh, Mr Devnoor Singh, Mr Puneet Mohinia, Mr Jaibir Singh, Mr Vijay Kumar, Miss Manpreet Kaur, Miss Indu Bala, Mr Bhupinder Mittal, Miss Navreet Kaur, Mr Rajinder Singh Teji and Miss Ankita Mittal, Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-JMIC Ludhiana and on Sub Divisional level by Mr Shaminderpal Singh and Miss Shairal Sohi, Civil Judge Junior Division-cum-JMIC Jagraon, Miss Shivani Sangar, Civil Judge Junior Division-cum-JMIC Khanna, Miss Riffi Bhatti, Civil Judge Junior Division-cum-JMIC Samrala and Miss Harsimranjit Kaur, Civil Judge Junior Division-cum-JMIC Payal.During today’s National Lok Adalat, several social workers and a senior advocate were nominated as members, besides a transgender named Mohini, who has been associated with several social works, was also nominated as a member in the National Lok Adalat.In today’s National Lok Adalat, 2198 cases out of total 4809 were solved on the spot and awards amounting to Rs 367097558 were passed during today’s National Lok Adalat.Mr Gurbir Singh, Chairman-cum-District and Sessions Judge said that people could approach the District Legal Services Authority or the concerned courts for the settlement of cases through the Lok Adalats. He also said that the decision of Lok Adalat was the final, which could not be challenged further. The District and Session Judge also said that these also helpful in saving time and money of the people besides promoting harmony in the society.He informed that next National Lok Adalat would be organised on December 8, 2018.
