Speaker of Punjab assembly Rana KP Singh today exhorted the youth of the state to contribute in socio-economic growth of Punjab by shunning the negative approach, if any, in their mind.Addressing the gathering during prize distribution function of the DAV institute of Engineering and Technology here today, the Speaker said that it was need of the hour to make sure that country in general and state in particular marches forward on the path of progress and growth. Evoking the examples of legendary leaders like Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and others, he said that these great leaders of nation led us in national freedom struggle and then in reconstruction of the country. Rana KP Singh said now it was the turn of the youngsters to leave their indelible imprint in making country ahead of China, America, Russia and other advanced nations of world.The Speaker also asked the students and youth to rise above the parochial considerations of caste, color, religion, gender and others for emerging India as a front runner country across the globe. He said that India has been since long a cradle of communal harmony, peace, amity and brotherhood as all the communities and castes have co-existed here. Rana KP Singh said that now it was duty of the younger generations to carry forward this spirit in coming times.

The Speaker called upon the youth to be torch bearers of information and technology in the country. He said that it was the need of hour to constructing a strong and vibrant India and Punjab. Rana KP Singh said that this would be a humble but befitting tribute to our forefathers who freed our country and then ensured its reconstruction.Lauding the immense contribution of DAV Institutions in imparting quality education to youth, the Speaker said that its role in pre and post independence period to provide quality education to one and all was highly commendable. He also cited the examples of nationalist leaders like Lala Lajpat Rai who were products of DAV institutes and led the country during national freedom. Rana KP Singh congratulated the faculty and students of the institute that they were fortunate to have got an opportunity to be associated with this premier institute.Earlier, the Principal of institute Prof Manoj Sharma and Secretary DAV institutes Mr Arvind Ghai welcomed the Chief guest on the occasion.On the occasion MLA Mr Rajinder Beri, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Member Punjab Public Service Commission Mr Lok Nath Angra, President of District Congress Committee Mr Daljeet Singh Ahluwalia, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Paramveer Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr Sarabjeet Rai, Chairman Citizen Cooperative Bank Mr KK Sharma, Congress leaders Mr Rajinder Pal Singh Randhawa, Mr Manoj Arora, Mr Satnam Bitta and others were also present.
