Forest Minister Punjab Sadhu Singh Dharmsot today joined the people of state in celebrating the festival of Krishna Janam Ashtami with full religious gaiety and enthusiasm by participating in the Shobha Yatra organized in city to mark the festival.The shobha yatra was organized by Sri Krishan Janam Utsav committee under the leadership of Chief Editor of Hind Samachar group Mr. Vijay Chopra. People from all walks of life participated in this shobha yatra that covered the entire city.Participating in the shobha yatra, the Minister, accompanied by Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh and MLA Mr. Bawa Henry, hailed the effort made by Sri Krishan Janam Utsav Committee led by Mr. Vijay Chopra to celebrate this festival. He said that this endeavor of Sri Krishan Janam Utsav Committee would play a key role in strengthening the basic fiber of the society besides perpetuating the glorious legacy of Lord Krishna. Congratulating the people on this festival, Mr. Dharmsot exhorted them to follow the footsteps of Lord Sri Krishna.
The Minister said the festival of Janmashtami was celebrated across the nation with traditional fervor and enthusiasm and reminds us of the life and teachings of Lord Krishna. He called upon the people to imbibe Lord Krishna's message of love and compassion, of oneness and pluralism and work together to take our state forward. Exhorting the people to celebrate the festival collectively with religious fervour and gaiety, Mr. Dharmsot hoped that this auspicious festival would bring amity, harmony and prosperity in our lives and strengthen the ethics of compassion, service and righteousness in the society. He also lauded the role played by Hind Samachar Group in cementing the bond of communal harmony and brotherhood in the state. Earlier, Mr. Vijay Chopra welcomed the dignitaries on this pious occasion and extended felicitations to the people on this sacred occasion.On the occasion Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh, MLA Mr. Bawa Henry, Assistant Commissioners of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh and Mr. Maninder Pal Singh besides others were also present.
