In a healing touch to the visually challenged students, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today announced to encourage the private schools in district for giving admissions to these students in regular classes for imparting mainstream education to them by using ultra-modern software.Addressing the gathering during a function organized by NGO Saksham for screening special audio described movie for visually challenged persons at local Sri Devi Talab Temple, the Deputy Commissioner said that in the ensuing admission session the schools would be motivated to enroll such students, so as to help them in attaining mainstream education. He said that now when a number of ultra modern software and apps were available for this purpose it was not difficult for even the visually challenged students to attain education. Mr. Sharma said that it would help a lot in making such persons an active partner in the socio-economic growth of the state and district.The Deputy Commissioner said that isolation of any group in the society was not good they have to face society educationally and economically adding that due to which it was the need of hour to integrate such students in mainstream. Mr. Sharma said that district administration would make all out efforts to help this needy strata of society by making all out efforts for their empowerment.

Lauding the organization for helping the visually challenged students to learn from taking books and now entertaining them by screening of second audio described movie ‘Hichki’-the first being ‘Gandhi’, the Deputy Commissioner said that description of scenes of movie being screened on big screen whenever there was any pause during movie really gives a narrative experience of entertainment to the students. Mr. Sharma said that mute scenes in movie were very meaningful and could be described well through this medium. He said that earlier Braille was considered to be a game changer for the visually challenged students but now this advanced human interface with computer through audio system would certainly act as a game changer for holistic development of visually challenged students. Mr. Sharma also lauded the role of Sanksham organization for evolving ways and means for education and entertainment of visually challenged students.Earlier, General Secretary of Sri Devi Talan Management Committee Mr. Rajesh Vij, Ms. Seema Chopra, Principal of Mehar Chand Polytechnic College Prof. Jagroop Singh, General Secretary of Sankasham Ms. Deepika Sud, Dr Prem sagar, Prof. JS Ghera and others welcomed the Deputy Commissioner.
