In a bid to make Jalandhar free from scourge of drugs and pollution, hundreds of farmers today pledged to plant more and more number of trees besides making strenuous effort for wiping out the curse of drugs from their village under the ongoing ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’.In an awareness campaign organized by the Agriculture department in the village Bolina Doaba, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jitendra Jorwal administrated the oath to people to make their villages clean, green, pollution and drug free. Mr. Jorwal who also planted the saplings along with the farmers expressed concern over the depleting forest cover. He said that the need of hour was to ensure maximum plantation for which this drive has been initiated.The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the main focus of the drive was to generate awareness amongst the people on the serious issue of depleting forest cover and increasing environmental pollution. He said that ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ started by the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would play a pivotal role in transforming Punjab into a healthy and prosperous state. Mr. Jorwal said that right from checking environmental pollution to adulteration of food, the mission envisages a comprehensive plan for the overall development of the state. He called upon the farmers to make this program a huge success by extending fulsome support and cooperation to this mass movement.On the occasion Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. BS Cheena, Dr. Kuldip Singh Mattewal, Dr. Surinder Singh, Mr. Gurdip Singh, Mr. Karnail Singh, Mr. Davinder Singh and others were also present.
