Gurpreet Singh Kangar, the Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy Sources, Punjab Government distributed appointment letters to 622 Assistant Linemen in a function here today whose appointments have been pending since long. While speaking on this occasion, Kangar reiterated the Ghar Ghar Naukri (Job to Every Household) initiative of Punjab government under Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh that promsies employment opportunity for every household in state.Kangar added that Punjab Power State Corporation Limited already has newly appointed 2800 Assistant Linemen, 300 Junior Engineers, 248 Sub-station Assistants. Besides these 698 dependents of those employees of PSPCL, who had died in service, have been inducted into PSPCL on compassionate grounds. S. Kangar added that in near future, fresh recruitment of 338 lower division clerks would be made in PSPCL.The Power Minister said that state has now signed agreement that enables PSPCL to get coal from Pachwara Mines (in Jharkhand) at Rs 860 per quintal. “Earlier the PSPCL was getting coal at Rs 2000 per quintal. With the new rates, we will be saving Rs 800 cr annually, which is a big economical  saving,” the Power Minister added.

Gurpreet Singh Kangar, while counting on the achievements of PSPCL, told that the Corporation is bound to implement the consumer-friendly schemes, plans and facilities for the welfare of electricity consumers in compliance to the directions given by Capt. Amarinder Singh. Camps have been arranged in the suburban sub-divisions of the whole of Punjab for change of ownership of tubewell connections, wherever necessary.The farmer consumers have been provided special facility for on-the-spot change of name. This would save the farmers from making rounds of the government offices. S. Kangar further told that PSPCL collected Rs 216 Crore and Rs 124 crore on August 16 and August 17 respectively by digital means.  It is worth-mentioning here that the Corporation had set new records by making collection of payments of Rs 100 crore on July 16 and Rs 220 crore on July 17  against electricity bills. The Power Minister said that told that for achievements of PSPCL.He said that the Chief Managing Director Er. Baldev Singh Sran, CMD and the Directors of PSPCL, all of its engineers, higher officers of finance and employees deserve kudos. S. Kangar informed that an awareness campaign on payment of electricity bills by digital means has been launched, which would produce even better results in the coming days.

Power Minister Kangar further told that the Corporation has been supplying 24- hour uninterrupted power supply to all the categories of electricity consumers. During the paddy season, consumers of agriculture tubewell connections are getting 8-hour continuous power supply.He added that recently, the Corporation has implemented some new consumer-friendly facilities and schemes, which include Voluntary Disclosure Scheme,  One-time Settlement and easing of documentation for change of ownership of tubewell connections of rural areas,  wherever necessary. For this purpose, PSPCL has organized 369 camps at various offices under its Distribution wing. Apart from this,  for our consumers, “Save water Save Money” scheme has been launched., the chief motive of which is to save precious water of Punjab.Congress leader Mr Narinder Bhaleria, Er. Baldev Singh Sran, CMD, Sh.  R.P. Pandov, Director (Admin.), Er. Kuldeep Garg, Chief Engineer, Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant Bathinda, Er. Lakhwinder Singh, Chief Engineer, Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant, Lehra Mohabbat, Er. Bhagwan Singh Matharoo, Chief Engineer/ DS, West Zone Bathinda and a large number of officers and employees participated in this function.
