Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Labourers working at Kishanganga power project in North Kashmir’s Bandipora Saturday abstained from work and assembled at Mantrigam village where the project is located to protest against pending salaries from last six months. The protesting labourers alleged that the company was not providing them salaries from months altogether forcing them to “come on the streets and stop work as their families are starving for even basic needs”.One of the workers of the HCC company, Hilal Ahmad from nearby Pazalpora village said that he is without salary from six months despite working continuously for every single day.Scores of the protesting workers shouted slogans against HCC near its office and threatened to boycott work till their salaries are released. They said that even on the auspicious occasion of Eid the company was making no headway in releasing their salaries which has been a persistent issue.  (PTK)
