Several households in the villages of Marh block today availed Electricity connection at their doorsteps during a special camp organized by electric EMRE-III under Saubhagya scheme. As many as 562 electricity connections were registered in a single day achieving thereby a key milestone of 100% household electrification in the border block, much ahead of the stipulated timeline of December 2018 set under the scheme. The People belonging to different villages of the said Block namely Halqa, Akalpur, Bhadrore, Rathua, Dhatryal and many more, swarmed the venue to avail the benefits of the scheme, which enabled the concerned Division to surpass the target of achieving 100% electrification of all the uncovered un-electrified households, identified as per the survey carried out under the scheme, earlier. Executive Engineer and Nodal Officer 24x7 Power for All, Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Executive Engineer, Anil Abrol, Junior Engineers, Sanjeev Hans, Kanchan Bharti, Karanjeet Singh, Sahil Revoo concerned field staff and representatives from Rodic consultants were present on the occasion.
Assistant Executive Engineer, Anil Abrol, Sub-Division-I, Canal said that ‘days before this special camp, announcements and publicity campaigns were launched on massive scale to make this event a success and we are happy to announce that it yielded great results’.Besides, the consumers also lauded the Department for taking this initiative of providing free electricity connections by organizing camps at their door-steps and were pleased with the way the Department took note of their grievances/ power supply related concerns and queries. During the event, the Nodal Officer informed the media that consumer database has also increased considerably with the new electricity connections being released under Saubhagya scheme. This will aid in proper implementation of the ongoing System Strengthening schemes with correct assessment of required infrastructure for the consumers, which will further pave the way towards achieving the goal of providing 24x7 Power for All.He further added that since the electrification works along with release of electricity connections, which are going hand in hand, are being carried out at a very fast pace in all the Blocks of Jammu District, we are hopeful that soon the targets will be accomplished in rest of the Blocks as well, anticipating 100% household electrification in Jammu District before the deadline.
