The Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister, Punjab, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has exhorted the students of minority community studying in various institutions of the state to derive full benefit from the scholarship schemes so as to achieve their goals in life.The minister further said that the students of the state belonging to the Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Parsi and Jain communities can apply online for getting scholarships under the post matric scholarship scheme. He also said that during the academic session 2018-19, the students can apply online for the new/renewal applications till 30th September, 2018 through online mode.Mr. Dharamsot also said that the students of the Government, Private, Aided schools, colleges as well as universities besides those from the residential institutions, polytechnic colleges, ITIs and Industrial Training Centers can submit their online applications on the national scholarship portal www.scholarships.gov.in. He also said that this scheme is 100 percent centrally sponsored.

The minister also said that for attaining the benefit of the post matric scholarship those students are eligible to apply whose family income is Rs. 2 lakh annually, must be a permanent resident of Punjab, Regular Student and secured at least 50 percent marks in the previous examination. He also disclosed that not more than 2 students from a single family would be eligible to be benefitted from the scholarship scheme whereas the student deriving benefit under this scholarship would not be eligible to take such a benefit from any other scheme of the either the Punjab or the Union Government.Mr. Dharamsot added that those students would be eligible for the renewal of the scholarship who had secured minimum 50 percent marks. He also said that the scholarship would be Rs. 7000 annually for the 11th and 12th standard for admission & tuition fees, Rs. 10000 annually for the admission and tuition/course fees for technical vocational stream of 11th and 12th standard, Rs. 3000 annually admission and tuition fees for graduate/post graduate, Rs. 380 per month as maintenance allowance for 10 months for one academic session, Rs. 230 per month for technical vocational courses, Rs. 570 per month for the technical & professional and other courses at graduate & post graduate level. Apart from this, if a student is not getting fellowship from any university or the authority then he/she would be granted scholarship at the rate of Rs. 1200 per month for the M.Phil and Ph.D courses.
