The Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government has already fulfilled its promise by waiving off loan of farmers owning less than 2.5 acres of land and others. Now, the state government has started the process of waiving off loan of borrowers of the Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation (PSCLDFC) and the Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation (PBCLDFC).Payal MLA Mr Lakhbir Singh Lakha today distributed debt relief certificates worth Rs 32,64,466 to 95 such borrowers of Payal constituency at a function. In today’s debt relief function, 70 borrowers were of Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation while 25 of Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation.While addressing the function, MLA Mr Lakhbir Singh Lakha said that the Punjab government has started the process of benefitting the farmers as well as non-farmers by waiving off their loans.
He said that in the initial phase, debt of farmers owning less than 2.5 acres of land was waived off, while now, the state government is waiving off debt of small farmers. He said that soon, the debt of farmers taken from commercial banks would also be waived off.Lashing out at the previous Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party led Punjab government, MLA Mr Lakha said that the previous government did nothing for waiving the loan of distressed farmers. He stated that the Congress government in the state would continue to benefit the farmers by waiving off their loans.He appealed to the people of state to give some time to the Congress led Punjab government for making the economic position better. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Welfare Department Deputy Director Mr Sushil Kumar, District Manager Mrs Manju Bala, besides several others. Mrs Manju Bala informed that very soon, another such function would also be organised in Samrala.
