District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, today conducted an extensive field visit of the town to inspect progress on various ongoing development works and assess the problems being faced by the people.The DDC was accompanied by SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulfkar, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Majeed, Assistant Commissioner Development, besides a team of engineers and other concerned.During the visit, the DDC inspected more than a dozen ongoing development works and gave directions for the timely completion of the projects. He also inspected many unused buildings and gave on spot directions for their best utilization.He also visited Government High School Bagh and inspected ongoing works there. He also visited examination hall of the school and directed ACD to immediately take up the face lifting and refurbishment of the hall and renovation of the institutes’ compound wall.He also directed Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bandipora to construct drain and tiled path in the school area.Further, the DDC visited N. M. Higher Secondary School Kaloosa where Girls Hostel is proposed to come up at a cost of Rs 2. 03 crore. He asked the executing agency to start construction of the hostel and ensure its completion within the target period so that the girls residing in far-off areas of the district get the benefits of the facility.
While inspecting Drug De-addiction Centre at Nathpora, the DDC directed for construction of paths from the main road to Centre, renovation of compound wall and other required works and making the Centre functional within 15 days.He also inspected renovation work of Gulshan Park at main Chowk Bandipora and directed the concerned executing agency to accelerate the pace of work.On the inspection of old and unused buildings of Middle School Branch Bandipora and Irrigation Department, Dr. Shahid Choudhary gave directions for dismantling of these buildings for the better use of the available land there.The DDC also visited fruit market and directed for macadamization of the site. He also inspected auto stand, main market Bandipora and on the request of public directed Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bandipora to avoid dumping of garbage in the area.On the occasion, the DDC took stock of the flood protection works of Nallah Madhumati. He was informed that work is apace on three flood protection works while as other works of Phase I have already been completed.
