Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today took stock of various ongoing development works at ward no. 8, 9, 10 and 11 of Municipal Committee Billawar. He asked the executing agencies to monitor the quality of these development works besides ensuring their timely execution.During inspection several deputations from various wards apprised the Speaker of various problems faced by them which mostly pertains to low voltage, construction/repair of lanes and drains, insufficient water supply and demand for more IHHLs.Dr Singh listened to their grievances patiently and assured them that their genuine problems will be addressed in a phased manner and directed the officers to ensure that the benefits of various welfare programmes and schemes percolate to the targeted populace so that the motive of the scheme gets fulfilled.Highlighting various development works completed by MC Billawar, Dr Singh said that public assets worth Rs. 36 Crore were constructed in Billawar town besides roads amounting to Rs. 1.16 Crore were laid to decongest the traffic.

Speaker said that to prevent soil erosion at Naaz ground, retaining wall is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 36 Lakhs, adding that a sewerage system for Billawar town at a cost of Rs. 5 Crore is under consideration of concerned authorities.In order to provide services to the people at their doorsteps, Billawar administration organized 26 major Public Service Delivery Camps at remote and far off areas. In these camps, under Revenue Services: PRCs, RBA/ALC Certificates, Caste Certificates, Revenue Extracts, Mutations, Income Certificates, Character Certificates and other miscellaneous services were provided.Whereas, under Health-related services participants were provided with Disability Certificates, Medical illness and Fitness Certificates, Old Age Certificate and Widow Certificates.
