Preparations for  the 'Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018, a rural cleanliness programme of Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation to rank states and districts on the basis of qualitative and quantitative evaluation, was finalised today here at a meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad.Attended by ADDC A S Chib, ADC Rajouri Sher Singh, ADC Koteranka Shafiq Ahmad, ADC Sunderbani Gurmukh Singh, ADC Kalakote Khalid Hussain, SDM Thanamandi Afzal Mirza, DSWO Nasib Ahmad, CMO Suresh Gupta, DEPO Gulzar Hussain, all BDOs, EO Municipalities, TSWOs, BMOs, CDPOs and ZEOs besides press club members and representatives of colleges, the meeting had detailed discussions for conduct of survekshan programme.District Panchayat Officer Dr Abdul Khabir made a detailed presentation on various aspects of Survekshan. He informed that  the programme envisages detailed survey of Sanitation status  of public places like schools, anganwadis, haat-bazaars etc. at district-level . Survey of public places, citizens' perspective of cleanliness, their recommendations and data from Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the criteria for surveying, he informed adding that based on Surveys, States and districts will be ranked and high performing states/district will be awarded on Gandhi Jayanti.The DDC impressed for launching effective campaign through field functionaries of the concerned departments in Panchayats, educational and health institutions and Anganwari centres to aware masses about Survekshan to facilitate surveying teams. It was also exhorted that health institutions in district will put in place effective system for scientific disposal of biomedical waste. Executive officers of Municipalities and BDOs were asked to take measures for preventing water logging in their jurisdiction.Principal PG College Rajouri was asked to constitute teams of Swachh Bharat Summer interns, NCC cadets and students to motivate and aware the general public regarding Swachh Survekshan Gramin 2018.The DDC also called for launching an intensive campaign through WhatsApp and other social networking sites involving press club members to make people aware before hand for successful completion of the survey.
