DDC Kathua reviews I-Day arrangements, listens to people’s grievances

District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria today chaired a meeting of officers to discuss arrangements for   Independence Day, 2018 celebration.The meeting decided that the main function will be held at Sports Stadium, Kathua where the VIP will unfurl the National Flag and take salute at the march past comprising the contingents of District Police, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, NSS, NCC boys and girls, students drawn from various government and private schools.The celebrations on the day will begin with the playing of Shahnai Vadan and patriotic songs by Information Department in the wee hours at Deputy Commissioner Office and SSP Office, Kathua.The DDC directed the concerned departments to ensure proper arrangements related to security, sanitation, seating, barricading, water supply, power supply, prize distribution, invitation cards, transportation and illumination of important buildings on Independence Day.Regarding presentation of cultural programme, the DDC directed the heads of government and private schools/colleges to prepare cultural programme with innovative ideas based on patriotic and cultural themes.The DDC also constituted various committees for different activities and exhorted upon them to start   the preparations well in advance so that the festival is celebrated with traditional fervor.

He also exhorted upon the officers to remain present at the function and   also direct their subordinate staff to be part of the national day event.Later, the DDC chaired a meeting of district task force to discuss arrangements for Measles-Rubella immunization campaign.It was apprised in the meeting that District Health department aims to cover approximately 2.13 lakhs children in the age group of 9 months to 15 years with a single dose of MR vaccine in the month of September 2018.  The immunization would improve the life chances of a significant number of children. The campaign will be implemented through schools and Anganwari centres.The DDC directed all the stakeholders to make this campaign successful by planning concerted efforts to improve health of people and protecting children against vaccine preventable diseases. The campaign is significant as it is expected to accelerate the country’s efforts to eliminate Measles and Congential Rubella Syndrome (CRS), the DDC added.Earlier in the day, the DDC listened to the grievances of several deputations coming from far off places like Basohli, Mahanpur, Hiranagar, Bani, Marheen and Billawar area.

The issues projected ranged from lack of quality power, shortage of drinking water facility and improvement of road connectivity. Problems related to revenue department and augmentation of irrigation facilities were also discussed threadbare and on the spot instructions were passed to the concerned officers to resolve their issues in a time bound manner. Among others present were SSP Kathua, Shridhar Patil, ACR, RTO, Principal PTS Kathua, CEO, Engineers, CMO, CAO, CDPO, ADMO, representatives from private school associations, Officers of District Police and CRPF along with other District Officers were present in the meeting.
