Rs 1.19 Crore Relief For Crop Damage

The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has approved Rs 1.19 crore as compensation for crop damage due to fire. The Revenue Minister Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria said that the state government has approved Rs 1,19,36,666 for 1491-acre crop damage due to fire during 2017-18 and 2018-19. The relief has been released to the Deputy Commissioners and they will dispense it to the affected farmers.  The Minister said that some farmers had suffered heavy loss of crop in fire incidents and the compensation would prove a big relief for the farmers. He said Captain Amarinder's government is fully committed to stand with farmers of the state.Giving details about the compensation, an official spokesperson of the department said that 270-acre crop was damaged during 2017-18 for which Rs 21,65, 400 has been approved. The relief has been sanctioned for the districts of Mansa, Tarn Taran, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Faridkot, Roopnagar, Bathinda, SBS Nagar and Moga.He said that Rs 97,71,266 has been approved as compensation for 1221-acre crop damage in fire incidents during 2018-19. He further informed that Rs 539350 has been approved for Mansa district, Rs 396100 for Tarn Taran, Rs 162700 for Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs 166900 for Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rs 3,101,150 for Patiala, Rs 8000 for SAS Nagar (Mohali), Rs 78800 for Faridkot and Rs 1787500 for Gurdaspur.Similarly, Rs 63500 has been sanctioned for Pathankot, Rs 131250 for Roopnagar, Rs 319000 for Ferozepur, Rs 83150 for Sangrur, Rs 52400 for Barnala, Rs 120000 for Bathinda, Rs 875250 for Fazilka, Rs 518850 for Ludhiana, Rs 102866 for SBS Nagar, Rs 364500 for Moga, Rs 511000 for Jalandhar, Rs 233900 for Kapurthala and Rs 155100 for Hoshiarpur district.
