Village Pakka Kalan, Sangat block resident three years old Jagmeet Singh suffering from congenital hole in heart, has been given a new lease of life by the Punjab government.Born in March 2016 to Pakka Kalan resident Manpreet Singh, the child had birth defect hole in heart. Due to the defect, Jagmeet often used to turn blue and had frail health. His uncle Balkaran Singh says that during health check up at village Anganwari Ayurvedic Medical officer Dr. Navpreet singh detected the ailment and referred the child under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram to the Civil Hospital Bathinda.Additional Deputy Commissioner Mrs Sakshi Sawhney and Civil Surgeon Bathinda Dr Hari Narain Singh stated that after the entire case was prepared,  Jagmeet's parents were told that they can get their son operated and treated free either at PGIMER Chandigarh or at Fortis Hospital Mohali. On March 4, 2018 the child's parents admitted him to Fortis Hospital Mohali where a team of doctors operates the child using latest techniques. Child's father Manpreet Singh said that his son was operated free of cost and not even a single penny was charged.Thanking Punjab government for this timely help, Manpreet said that his family earned bread by farming on land taken on contract. With a meager income family would not have been able to get little Jagmeet operated for hole on heart. But timely intervention of the Punjab government saved the little life giving big relief to his parents.
