District Administration Mansa has taken strict measures to stop the use of plastic carry bags under Mission Tandarust Punjab. In a press statement issued today by Mansa SDM Abhijeet Kaplish, it was stated that a team of government officials from different departments are assigned the task of checking the sale of plastic carry bags in shops."We have divided the district in different zones and the monitoring of the checking is done on a daily basis. The government employees/officials visiting shops fill a standard performa including the name of the shopkeeper and whether he is selling the plastic bags or not," Kaplish said. The SDM added that this performa is submitted along with the picture of our official taken with the shopkeeper. "We are leaving no stone unturned to completely eliminate the use of the plastic bags and now are into the second phase of this project under which confiscation of these bags is started," the SDM further said.He revealed that today 22 shops were in total out of which 2.3 kg of plastic carry bags were confiscated. "As this mission starts gaining momentum, people have now come forward to extend every possible help under which a large number of shopkeepers have promised not to give plastic carry bags to their customers," Kaplish disclosed. It has now become a public campaign where NGOs, Welfare Societies, Volunteers of different organizations, individuals and retired officials too are chipping in to help the administration in eradicating the use of plastic carry bags.
