Taking dig at state government for miserably failing in addressing long pending genuine demands of State Doctors, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Wednesday advised doctors to work one hour extra on 12 July 2018 (Thursday) as a mark of protest to press for their genuine demands.President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik said that we have utilised all forms of democratically accepted protests till date to get our demands addressed and it is unfortunate that government is not giving heed to our legitimate demands. As a mark of protest we have decided to do one hour extra work on Thursday”.“We as responsible section of society are well aware of the fact that people of state direly need our unflinching services as state lacks vibrant private or corporate health sector”, Dr Naik added.  All doctors are advised to continue in their respective areas of duty till 5 PM on Thursday.

Dr Owais H Dar, General secretary DAK,  said that “even different civil societies, health societies, media fraternity, NGO's and even common people have called our long pending demands as genuine and fundamental right of doctors, but it is very unfortunate  that state government has failed in addressing them for decades together. Relegated from pay band 3 to pay band 2 ,it seems that as concerned administration are getting psychological satisfaction by sitting on our files. They  know as responsible citizens , our profession is our weakness. Therefore we have decided to work for an extra one hour on Thursday, and we are hopeful that this most accepted democratic form of protest will knock the doors at power corridors".“We are puzzled! that instead of addressing our long pending  demands, the authorities are hell bent to muzzle the voice of doctors by targeting  elected leadership of DAK”,Dr Dar further added.DAK appeals the Hon’ble Governor Mr N.N Vohra to take a serious look into the all genuine demands of doctors of J&K  and address them once for all ,so that this  sacrosanct profession will get its sheen back.  (PTK)
