Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was accorded warm send-off, the other day, by the officers of the district administration Rajouri and civil society members on his transfer as Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora. A string of farewell functions were organised across the district including Dodason Bala, Manjakote, Darhal, ThanaMandi, Nowshera, Sunderbani, Kalakote and other places where thousands of people from all walks of life gathered to pay gratitude to Dr. Shahid for his outstanding services in the district. Main function was organised at Dak Bungalow Rajouri in which besides senior officers of district administration, senior citizens, civil society members, educationist, academicians, sports persons and press club members thronged to bid him adieu. Speakers applauded Dr. Shahid for taking the district to new heights of development. They said that Dr Shahid shall be remembered for his unique vision and planning abilities, for providing a value based, transparent and accountable administration and for taking historic decisions to steer the district on developmental path.The officers and prominent citizens also recalled Dr. Shahid's innovative initiatives aimed at fast-tracking development of Rajouri the impact of which will be observed in the near future.They added that Press Club, State-of-the-art library for boys and girls, new road projects in the town as part of city redevelopment plan, auditorium at Pahari hostel, Universal One-Stop-Centre for Women, effective BBBP campaign, drug de-addiction centre at District Hospital, widening of Mandi road, construction of parking slots, Parks, bunkers in villages along LoC, providing more than 1 Lakh services in PSGA camps are a few glimpses of plethora of other development works done under his supervision.
