Ludhiana Rural Police Launch Four Drug Emergency Response Teams

On the directions of, Suresh Arora, IPS DGP Punjab, Sh. Ranbir Singh Khatra, IPS, DIG, Ludhiana Range and Sh. Surjit Singh IPS, SSP, Ludhiana (Rural) addressed the media that that DGP, Punjab had instructed to launch Drug Emergency Response Teams (DERTs) to tackle any emergent law and order situation.In this regard, four Drug Emergency Response Teams have been constituted in Ludhiana Rural. These DERTs have been set up to deal with the Drug related issues. Each Team comprising one ASI, two HCs, three constables and three others will have a good conditioned vehicle with stickers of Drug Emergency Response Teams (DERTs) and urgent Phone or Mobile Numbers be placed on the vehicles.The sophisticated weapons with sufficient ammunition will also be provided to the team. Law and Order equipment along with can shields, lathies, sufficient rope and tear gas equipment, movie or still camera etc have been provided to each team to face any emergent situation.In such a situation, it is essential to move the force to the place of the incident immediately. Sometimes, the force is not available in the police stations due to routine duties, it is essential to form DERTs at each Sub-Division to tackle any emergent law & order situation.
