On the occasion of Helen Keller Day celebrated at Institution for Child awith special ability, Dhalli, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said this was a significant day which was celebrated mark the birth of Helan Keller whose life and work was a source of inspiration not only for the deaf and dumb, but also for the others as well. He said that despite her physical disability, she created a special place for herself in the society.Jai Ram Thakur said that each one of us should be strong to convert the challenges into opportunities to be successful in life. We should endeavour to not let our weakness overshadow our strengths. He said that it becomes the duty of the society to come forward to provide helping hand to such people so that they could also contribute towards the society. The State government was committed for welfare of this section of the society. He urged the NGOs and other social organizations to come forward to supplement the endeavour of the government in this direction.The Chief Minister said that the new building would be constructed soon in the school for which forest clearance had been accorded.
He appreciated the programme organized by the students of the school.Child Welfare Council General Secretary of Parishad Payal Vaidya said that the Bal Kalyan Parishad was formed in 1971 and 172 students were providing education to the children with special abilities. She also detailed various activities being undertaken by the Parishad. She said vocational training was also being imparted to the students studying in the school. She said that SJVNL has provided Rs 8.50 crore of the Parishad for construction of building.Ashok, a student of the school gave a detailed introduction on life and works of Helan Keller.The students of the school presented a colourful cultural programme on the occasion.Principal of the School Dharam Chand Rana presented vote of thanks.Former MLA and State Football Association President Baldev Singh Tomar, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kashyap, Director, Women and Child Welfare Hans Raj, Director Dr Naresh Naresh Kumar Lath, Councilor Dr Kimmi Sood were present on the occasion among others.
