Governor Acharya Devvrat presided over the convocation ceremony of Institute of Technology and Future Trends (ITFT) here today. He awarded degrees to 50 students of Himachal Pradesh and congratulated them for receiving degrees. The Institute organized the convocation for the students of Himachal Pradesh who have completed their degrees from ITFT.Appreciating the efforts of the institute, the Governor said that ITFT was working towards upgrading skill development of youth. He said that it was appreciable that this institute had succeeded in providing employment to about 35000 students, and expressed happiness that about 80 per cent of the students were getting employment.Describing the old tradition of Convocation, he said that it was already mentioned in 'Upnishad' that the Convocation was a part of education, where after completion of educational pursuit, the teacher give some instructions to student for the betterment of the society. The instructions given to the student during convocation at that time would focus on that students should behave honestly and increase the knowledge continuously throughout the life and lastly impart it further to others in so that everyone could be benefited. 

He added that it was a right time to think and follow such instructions and rich traditions. Education should not be restricted to oneself only but it should be done for welfare of the society and its use should be in the interest of the nation, he added."You all will be bestowed with the degrees today and this is not the end but a new beginning to yearn for more wisdom, creativity, knowledge and continuous desire for lifelong learning", said Acharya Devvrat.He urged the students to disseminate the knowledge acquired by them for the betterment of the society. He said that the greater we propagate knowledge, the greater the society gets benefitted.Expressing his concern over the rising cases of drug addiction, the Governor appealed them to come forward for eradicating this social evil which had emerged as one of the biggest challenge particularly in the younger generation. He said youth were our asset and the nation could not afford to see them falling to drug abuse.The Governor also released prospectus of the Institute.Earlier, Lt. General Kamal Jit Singh (Retd.), Chief Patron of ITFT said that in service sector there was a great demand in Himachal Pradesh and ITFT was making all out efforts in this direction by providing training to the students of the State in skill development. He expressed hope that all degree holders students of Himachal would make important contributions to the development of the state. 

To expend its activities up to grass root level, the Institute has published its study material in Hindi with the inspiration of Governor Acharya Devvrat so that more and more students could be benefited, said Lt. General.He apprised that the institute also organized a convocation for the students of Arunachal Pradesh and now the Convocation Function has been arranged for the first time to students of Himachal Pradesh so that the students of remote areas of the state along with their parents could be part of this celebration as well.Shri Aman Sharma, Chairman cum Managing Director, ITFT said that for last 25 years ITFT College was striving  for preparing its students for academic excellence and achievement with special focus on SC, ST, OBC and Minorities students from economically weaker sections with support of Government of India. The mission at ITFT College had always been education for employment and entrepreneurship, he added.Dr. Sandeep Guleria, Principal & Registrar, ITFT Academics proposed vote of thanks.
