In order to make the state healthiest and check the spread of vector-borne diseases in the district, various anti-larvae teams of health department have been carrying out extensive drive since June 5 under mission ‘Tandrust Punjab’ and checking the desert coolers, water tanks, containers and others potential breeding sites of mosquitoes.The teams have so far visited nearly 3203 premises including residential houses, government offices, and quarters and inspected 4974 desert coolers along with other containers.An official spokesperson said that the teams have also detected larvae in 35 places where team members acted swiftly and immediately drained the water from all the places to ensure that it does not spread further. The spray was carried out there by the team members.He said that 203 awareness camps have also been organized in the district where the staff made the people aware of the fact that these places are breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue, malaria, and others.They were told to keep cover all water storage containers, besides old tyres, broken pots, crockery should be removed immediately.He added that this drive is part of the ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission to check the spread of vector-borne diseases well in advance. He said that the Health Department is firmly dedicated to ensuring good health of the residents.
