Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today Flagged-off International Olympic Day Run at The Ridge here today. Hundreds of students from different schools of Shimla participated in the Run. While speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that despite being a small state, Himachal Pradesh has made a big impact in sports arena. He said that Vijay Kumar of Himirpur district of the State won silver medal in Olympics for the country.Chief Minister said that the Government would provide all possible facilities to the budding sportspersons of the State so that they could compete at national and international level. He said that efforts would be made to provide best sports facilities in rural areas as lot of talent was available there.Transport, Forests and Youth Services and Sports Minister Shri Govind Thakur said that the State Government was committed to strengthen the sports infrastructure in the state.President of Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association Shri Rajesh Bhandari welcomed the Chief Minister and others present on the occasion. Wife of Chief Minister Dr Sadhna Thakur, Secretary Language Art and culture Smt Purnima Chauhan, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Smt. Suman Rawat were also present on the occasion.
