The district administration will observe International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in an unsurpassed manner on June 26.Chairing an important meeting to finalize the arrangements with heads of various departments, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Khanna) AjaySood asked the sports department and Youth Services to organize a run in the city to create the awareness among the public about the drug abuse and availability of treatment in the drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centers of the government.He asked them to coordinate with police to make the arrangements of traffic control during the run.He ordered the education department to hold an exhibition on the various aspects of the drug abuse. He said that the main aim of run and exhibitions is to help the youngsters in abstaining from using any kind of intoxicants.ADC said that health department will hold medical camp in Transport Nagar for the truck drivers and a lecture will also be organized for them by the psychiatrist and other experts to motivate them to avoid any type of drug.He also asked the health officials to hold similar camps in Jagraon and Khanna along with all hospitals besides creating awareness among the all vulnerable groups.Moreover, the jail department is holding a nukkad Natak which will be performed by inmates. ADC also told health department to send a medical team led by psychiatrist in the jail.He solicited fulsome support and cooperation from the officials for making the program a huge success.Assistant Commissioner (G) Amarinder Singh Malhi and others officials were also present on the occasion.
