International Yoga Day observed in Leh

Like in other parts of world and India, the 4th International Yoga Day was observed in Leh district with great participation of students, para-military and medical staff at different venues in Leh today.The day was being celebrated by various organizations, government departments and Hill Council as per the instructions laid down by Ayush Mantralay, Government of India. Indian Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), Leh celebrated IYD at the bank of river Indus, Choglamsar, Leh early morning today.SHQ Leh and its subordinate units performed yoga with great zeal and enthusiasm under the supervision of special yoga experts and trained yoga tutors of ITBP. DIG (Ladakh) ITBP presided over the event as the chief guest and practised yoga along with other commanding officers of ITBP formations based at Leh and other Himveers.DIG Yadav speaking on the occasion highlighted the benefits of Yoga in health effects and emphasized on the inclusion of yoga in daily routine of each individual to experience its positive effects. He said that ITBP is trying to create awareness about health maintenance through yoga practice in consonance with efforts of the Government of India.Under the supervision of yog guru Phunchok Ladakhi IYD was celebrated at Degree College, Leh organized by Hill Council in collaboration with Degree College, Leh College students along with students of Boys Higher Secondary School Leh and Girls Higher Secondary School Leh participated in the event in huge numbers.Phuntsog Ladakhi also took a yoga session at Forest Bagh Choglamsar organized by Health Department, Leh under National Health Mission on the theme ‘Yoga for harmony and peace’. It was attended by the staff of the medical department.
