Nehru Yuva Kendra in collaboration with district administration and AYUSH today organized a programme to celebrate International Yoga Day at Sports Stadium, Kathua.Various educational institutions, government departments, social organizations, NCC units today participated to celebrate 4th International Yoga Day with vigor and enthusiasm.Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rohit Khajuria was the chief guest on the occasion. ADC, ACR, Doctors, students and other district officers also participated in the event to mark International Yoga Day celebrations.Speaking on the occasion, DC Kathua said that today, 177 countries are celebrating Yoga Day for bringing peace and harmony in their lives.He appealed the people especially youth to adopt Yoga in their routine life as mental health is the basis of a strong physical health which is pre-requisite for peace and prosperity of a society.He also highlighted the importance of Yoga, saying that it is an invaluable gift of India to the world which brings harmony in all walks of life besides prevention from diseases, health promotion and management of stress, anxiety and many lifestyle disorders. It not only enlightens the mind but also the soul.The DC further highlighted the importance of the day saying that tradition of 5000 years old Vedic period and 21st century modern India is coming together for welfare and well being of mankind all over world.A large number of persons from all walks of life, Youth Clubs, Mahila Mandals, Patanjali Yog, various social, religious, yoga and meditation organizations, NGOs, education institutions and Police Training Schools participated in the yoga session.
