Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today inaugurated 14 RO Water Purifiers, installed by Azure Power as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda, while urging other industries to join the government’s effort to provide clean drinking warter to the people.Noting that excessive content of harmful chemicals in the ground water posed serious health hazards, the Chief Minister said his Government had initiated several programmes for providing safe drinking water to the citizens.Lauding Azure Power for this noble gesture, the Chief Minister said many diseases occur due to lack of potable water, and if industrial houses came forward to help the government overhaul the water infrastructure, it would go a long way in mitigating the problem. The ROs would cater to the drinking water needs of residents of 29 villages in Patiala district and benefit more than 3000 households, with easy access to treated drinking water, said Preet Sandhu , co-founder of Azure Power, adding that each RO water purifier unit will supply 1000 litres of water per hour for 10-12 hours per day.
